OpenVPN offers TCP connections but WireGuard can not. OpenVPN may be
readily set up to use either UDP or TCP to run on any port, such as 443,
to bypass firewall restrictions. OpenVPN performs better at protecting
users from being prevented by censorship since Wire Guard can only be used
with UDP (User Datagram Protocol) rather than TCP.

Finally, when roaming across networks, WireGuard is more stable than
OpenVPN. WireGuard clients can switch networks without losing the
connection. However, over unreliable networks where packet loss and
congestion are widespread, OpenVPN is very steady and quick. It provides a
TCP mode for very unstable connections, but due to the inefficiencies of
encapsulating TCP within TCP, this option sacrifices significant
performance.
